Corporate Paritys Global Product Intelligence & Design Thinking Summit took place on 6th-7th June, Amsterdam and saw global professionals in research & development come together. Organised by Chi Ka Sacchi-Yu, Event Producer at Corporate Parity. Let’s take a look at some of the most popular presentations & discussions from the summit.

Day 1

Rob Verhagen, Sustainability Director at Oerlemans Packaging delivered the opening keynote speech discussing how ‘CHANGE IS COMING, CHANGE IS NEEDED’. Rob focused on the food industry with an emphasis on how products can improve the lives of many. Following this, Christopher Daly, Head of Digital Product & Design at GeoWealth discussed ‘THE FUNDAMENTALS OF DESIGN THINKING’. Christoph received positive feedback for his delivery. Prof. Dr Bram Desmet, CEO / Managing Director at Solventure analysed a case study of ‘HOW PRODUCT LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT IMPACTS YOUR SUPPLY CHAIN AND KEY FINANCIAL METRICS’. Bram made an impact for his explanation of End-of-Life: Why companies are good at creating new products but less good in taking old stuff out.

Dr Mirjam Sick, Vice President R&D Program and Innovation at Andritz Hydro, provided detailed graphs along with interesting imagery for renewable resources coupled with an agile methodology during ‘PRODUCT & DIGITAL LIFECYCLE SERVICES: AGILE DEVELOPMENT IN THE HYDROPOWER INDUSTRY’ highlighting product development in hydropower. Dr Michael Jastram, a Senior Solutions Architect at Jama Software, delivered a sponsor presentation covering how to ‘HARNESS THE POWER OF PREDICTIVE PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT’. Dr Florin Paun, Director Innovation Group at AKKA Technologies, expressed opinions that were unique & disruptive using low budget carrier airlines as an example of “add-ons” for consumers when originally charging a “low” price but having that price increased dramatically with the use of these “add-ons”. Florin referenced capitalising on stress during ‘NEW TRENDS IN OPEN INNOVATION: OUT OF THE TRL’

‘PRODUCT SUPPLY CHAIN ANALYSIS’ was the most popular panel discussion of the day. During this discussion, questions were prepared in order to ask the live audience. This garnered great interest, with moderator by Prof. Dr Bram Desmet, CEO / Managing Director at Solventure and panellists Arjen Bos Director Global Supply/ Value Chain Planning Customer Premise Equipment at Liberty Global & Harmen Lanser, Director Component Product Development – Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance. The group incorporated analytics and insights into supply chain strategy.

 

Day 2

Itai Vonshak, VP\GM Product & UX at Vaunt, Intel opened day 2 of the summit with a keynote presentation ‘LAUNCHING A V1.0 AND NOT MESSING IT UP’. Itai received very positive feedback for his use of real life, relevant cases along with specific recommendations on how to cope with failures and changing processes. Also, covering organisational differences in larger scale corporations & start-up enterprises, providing a relatable comparison. Adam Jaworski, Global Leader — User Experience and Design at ABB, focused on software development through ‘USER EXPERIENCE, PRODUCT THINKING AND CORPORATIONS’ answering key questions including why your software replicates your organizational mess. Boris Thorbecke, Former Art Director and Visual Design Lead at Cognizant, discussed the importance of data for telling your organisations story during the case study ‘PRODUCT STORYTELLING & DATA VISUALIZATION

João Miguel Clímaco dos Santos, Global Head of Aftermarket Product Management at SEAT, S. A. provided insights into the automotive industry during ‘B2C PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT & EXPERIENCE FEEDBACK’. João explored consumer thinking and feedback in product development. Catherine Macpherson, Vice President Product Strategy and Development PurFoods LLC | Mom’s Meals NourishCare, was praised as a highlight of the summit, providing a US perspective on Product Development during ‘B2B2C PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT’ & the B2B2C concept. Catherine also gave a summarised insight into PurFoods LLC | Mom’s Meals NourishCare & how it developed from grassroots to the organisation it is now. The presentation had a focus on charitable work rather than purely profit.
